  • Worth a 10 minute stop off to see the original home of the emerald Buddah. Also good to see a more traditional Wat after the artistry of the Blue and White Temples.  more »

  • A small temple located within the city centre of Chiang Rai, which has a long history dating back to 14 Century. Once a resting place for The Emerald Buddha before moving to its current location of The Royal Temple in Bangkok. This temple is a well-known place not just for the locals but also out-of-towners. Visitors can learn about its history through painting surround the replica of The Emerald Buddha. Although the parking space is limited but visitors can temporary park on the side street without worries. Visitors can visits this temple using city tram which would stop to tourist attraction around the city.
  • I'm very impressed with this temple. It's very very well maintained with a very beautiful and peaceful temple grounds with very lovely huge orchids. The detailed and beautifully crafted Buddha is breathtaking. The temple staff was very welcoming. A monk was even explaining the different symbolism of Buddhism. The temple has a very good museum with explanation in English. It's a very educational place of worship. I wish I had more time. I would love to listen to the monk explain the religious significance of the various objects as he spoke very good English.
