Hij ligt erg mooi en vonden het de... more »The entrance to this temple is beautiful! A large long staircase upwards. Unfortunately, the temple itself was not open, why don't we know. We could walk around the temple. He is very nice and thought it worthwhile to visit.
This historical old temple with Chedi of King Mengrai's ashes. Located behind Wat Pha Kaew, on a small hill top. Thanks to King Mengrai and King Naresuan we are able to be at Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai today. For those interested in Northern Thai history can read further in internet search. Kindly pay your respect to King Mengrai if you are here. King Mengrai was 25th King of Chiang Sean, Ngoenyong Reign 1261 - 1292. Become first great king of Lana Kingdom. Reign 1292 - 1311. Founder of Chiang Mai as capital of Lana Kingdom 1292 - 1558. Born 1239 Died 1311.
This hill top temple dates back to the 14th Century and contains the ashes of King Mengrai of the Lanna Kingdom. Highly revered by all the people of Northern Thailand. It is always humbling to be in a place that has so much history and a monument to a leader who still such a strong influence over his kingdom's descendants.
