Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, Ayutthaya

4.6
Built in the 15th century, Wat Phra Sri Sanphet once served as the largest and holiest temple in Ayutthaya, Thailand’s ancient capital. You will recognize the attraction by its three cone-shaped chedis, said to hold the ashes of three past kings as well as relics. Burmese attacks severely damaged the site in the 18th century, and the three chedis remain the only buildings restored so far. Most people just come for a glimpse of these iconic structures, but take some time to explore the ruins of this important Thailand attraction. • The site is very beautiful and steeped in history, you can see in a temple a giant golden Buddha And there are also excursions back from elephants not far away

  • Three tombs from the Ayutthaya period stand side by side. There was an explanatory sign of the restoration diagram, but it seems to have been rebuilt.

  • Three very impressive spiral structures surrounded by fairly spacious ruins. Well worth taking a slow walk all the way around to enjoy from all angles. It's a popular site so this would be a good one to hit first thing in the morning.
  • The most beautiful ancient temple in Ayutthaya!! Very hot but there are many big trees to hide from sunburn. I would recommend this place to the visitors who have a short stay to Ayutthaya!
