Jozani Forest, Zanzibar Island

#2 of 6 in Nature in Zanzibar Island
Park · National Park
Get a close-up view of the rare red colobus monkey at Jozani Forest, Tanzania's only national park on the island of Zanzibar. With mangroves, tropical forests, and coral rag, this 50 sq km (19 sq mi) park also plays home to midget frogs, Sykes' monkeys, bush babies, Aders' duikers, and, reportedly, the legendary Zanzibar leopard. Nocturnal hyraxes here keep company to over 50 species of butterfly and 40 species of birds. Take a safari tour to see red colobuses, emblematic of Zanzibar's conservation efforts. • Fantastic place, wonderful monkeys and brilliant atmosphere. One of the best place I've ever seen. Part of Zanzibar which is worth to see when you will be there.
  • It‘s a nice protected forest. Highlight are definitely the monkeys who don‘t seem to be spooked by groups of human visitors at all.
