Stroll, shop, and take photos of the famous lanterns at Shifen Old Street, one of the most popular stops along the Pingxi railroad line. This picturesque attraction has a number of souvenir shops and eateries to entertain you during your visit. Though it was initially built to transport coal, this train stop and historical site is now known for its sky lanterns. Here you may be inspired to paint a wish and then release your lantern into the air with hopes that the wish will come true. There are also a number of other attractions within walking distance, including a well-known waterfall. Plan my day in New Taipei using traveler tips and tourist information provided by Inspirock.
Shifen Old Street Reviews
There are thousands of people lighting up lanterns and sending them up for good luck. We walked through the amazing number of small shops that offers lanterns and wrote our wishes and sent one off. Tr... more »
more »Shops lined up to the last minute line, lantern dancing in the sky. Taiwan attractions. Not to mention that it shines in the photograph, and it is sure to become a memorable, pleasant time. It is thought that it wants to write in the lantern with the family, and the hand is dirty with the ink. The person in the shop is being posed, and the feeling is somehow coming. The person who thinks that it is a very solid sightseeing, and why it is popular with such a plane, it should be able to realize when I try.
It's situated on an old but active train track and there are a number of vendors selling lanterns which you light and set it off. You choose the lantern based on the wish you want to make. :) We had good coffee at a nearby stall see picture to see which stall. Pretty good variety.
The only place in Taiwan that allows you to release Sky Lantern! If it’s the first time visiting Taiwan, good to drop by this place and take a look at the culture. Join in to doodle on the lantern and send your well wishes to a far far place. Want to know where’s the debris of the lantern? It’s known that after few minutes of floating in the air, it will end up in the forest. Someone will pick up those frames, recycle it and sell it to the retailers. The railway track is working and you will get to see train passing by. Do keep a look out! Nothing much to shop but overall, it’s a good place to explore.
