  • overrated, overcrowded, overinstagrammed - small lake in the mountains with a view, there are better ones in the swiss alps and in zermatt. easy to access from the station (perfect for lazy...  more »
  • I took the train from Zermatt up to Riffelsee to do a photo safari as I heard that it was a great place to see the Matterhorn reflected in the lakes. Once there I began to drink in the breathtaking views all around me. I was surprised to encounter a large flock of Black-nosed sheep. They were so talkative and were such a delight to watch. As I walk down the trails I came across the lakes there. Their still waters reflected the Matterhorn and the surrounding terrain like mirrors. It was a fabulous place for photography of the Alps and of several glaciers. If you want together a better view of the Matterhorn than what you can see from down in Zermatt, then I would recommend visiting Riffelsee. It is a must see place to visit in Switzerland!
