The Valère basilica (French: Basilique de Valère), also called Valère castle (French: Château de Valère), is a fortified church situated in Sion in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It is situated on a hill and faces the Château de Tourbillon, located on the opposite hill. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.

  • Having done the Chateau de Tourbillon, we went up the other side to the Valere Basilica, this could have been interesting but much was closed for renovation so ultimately was actually less...  more »
  • I could see the landmark from the highway I was driving. I did not have proper footwear making my climb an arduous one. It has beautiful view of the town.  more »

  • Incredible historical location, very well preserved for hundreds of years. Contains one of the oldest organs in the world that is still playable. A must see visit if in the area
  • It's nice. Has a nice view from the top. Sadly the most interesting parts of the church are hided, I guess they are restoring it. If you visit Sion, you have to go there.
