KKL Luzern - Lucerne Culture and Convention Centre, Lucerne

4.5
Marvel at the innovative architecture and one of the finest concert halls in the world at KKL Luzern - Lucerne Culture and Convention Centre. Construction began in 1995 under the direction of Parisian architect Jean Nouvel. The complex houses a multifunctional hall, a convention center, and a world-renowned concert hall with exceptional acoustics. The three unique buildings are lined up like ships in a harbor, all covered by the distinctive "magical" roof. Take a tour through the center to discover its other architectural nuances--including water from the neighboring lake, which is channeled through all three spaces. • The building stands out, located directly on the lake, next to the train station and jetty. It is a modern contrast to the otherwise picturesque Lucerne. We were there for the Turner exhibition and saw the music hall again, let alone heard (which is obviously a loss if you're reviewing it). The exhibition rooms and the coffee next to them are excellent and worth a visit, almost independently of the exhibition. A museum on a fourth floor is worth a trip in itself.

  • Enjoyed the Lucerne Festival here with a magnificent piano concerto. The concert hall has great acoustics. The views on the lake edge are gorgeous. There is a lovely cafe inside. Quality is good all around. Underground parking was very convenient. And the lovely downtown is all just walking distance.
  • This place is a must see in Lucern. The majestic architecture is so naturally well integrated with the environment that you will not believe your eyes. Furthermore there are precious painting exposures and concerts are top rated also for quality of sound! If I could give one star more probably would be for this place! A gem in the heart of Luzern
