  • Beautiful gardens in the grounds of the Palace. Had a picnic there with my Scout Group.
  • It was built from 1658 to 1678 at the behest of the baron Kaspar Jodok von Stockalper in Barok style. It has a large internal courtyard (1280 m2,) currently used for concerts and shows) surrounded by a colonnade with three orders of arches with Tuff columns inspired by the Italian art of the Renaissance. The aim of the Baron was to build a fortified residence in Brig, to house his merchandise that passed from the Sempione pass (not to forget that in Gondo there were the gold mines always managed by the same Baron), easily accessible from the 1930s thanks to a mule track, the Stockalperweg, also built by him. The ensemble is however heterogeneous and combines various styles: Gothic buildings, gardens reminiscent of French villas with towers crowned with large metal onion domes. And just the towers of the Castle Stockalper, which represent the symbol of the city, are a tribute to The Legend Of The Wise Men: Baron Stockalper called the three towers by their names. Inside the castle you can see a hall with coffered ceiling (of the eighteenth century), the chapel, the Hall of the Knights (containing a gallery of portraits) and the Hall of the Three Wise Men.To the west of the building lies a large garden, which you can reach from the courtyard, through an artistic wrought iron gate.
