Royal Palace, Stockholm

4.1
After the city's medieval castle was destroyed by fire, Royal Palace was built in the same spot and has served as the king's residence since the 18th century. Located in the city's old town area, this castle has over 600 rooms and five museums. Following the destructive palace fire of 1697, the current structure was built by architect Nicodemus Tessin in 1754. Tour the palace grounds and buildings to see its 18th- and 19th-century interiors, museums, and royal costumes. Many visitors like to catch the changing of the guard ceremony, which has been a tradition since 1523. • With the price of the entrance you see the Royal Treasure, the Royal apartments and another museum. The visit can be done perfectly in a couple of hours. The royal rooms are very decorated, luxurious... If you've seen more palaces (Versailles, Sisi's in Vienna...) Well, it's a little bit more of the same. But hey, I found it nice and I do not regret having entered and paid the 16 SEK it costs.

  • Beautiful castle next to the water. The Palace is great because you can visit it anytime during the year ans the staff is always around to help and guide you around the palace. Also you can go see 3 important parts of the palace which also give a interesting history lesson about Swedish people .
  • Highly recommended. The ticket includes three museums. The actual castle is the main attraction. The museum shop is bit pricey but a good place to buy quality souvenirs. We didn't have audio guide and I think that could have been a good investment.
