Part of the old town, Riddarholmen is a small islet housing a number of restored 17th-century palaces and a medieval burial church of Swedish monarchs. Surrounded by three private palaces, one of which has a medieval tower, the island's central square is dominated by the 19th-century statue of Birger Jarl, the founder of the city. Stroll to the western end of the islet for panoramic views of the bay and abounding photo opportunities, especially at sunset. • A very nice little island close to the train station, located in front of the City Hall, suitable for photos in the winter, the locals skate to the City Hall. Amazing!

  • Walk over the Riddarholmen Bridge (designed by architect Gunnar Jayashree in the middle of the 1900 century) at the house of nobility and you will arrive in Birger Jarl's square. The square is named by Brondskulpturen, representing Stockholms founder Birger Jarl 1252. The square includes the Riddarholmen church, the Sparre Palace, the Wrangel Palace, the Hessenstiernska Palace, etc. Go down the Wrangel Hill and come down to the water-Riddarfjärden. Here you can find Evert Taube's terrace. Continue the Norra Riddarholmen Harbour to the right and arrive at Birger Jarl's tower from 1520. At the Southern Knight's house the port lies Mälardrottningen a former Lustyacht now hotel/restaurant. Walking around the Riddarholmen and enjoying beautiful buildings, beautiful views and sea air will be a little extra when you get to know the history of the wings makes the visit memorable! Highly recommend.

  • Riddarholmen is a great small island in Stockholm, Sweden located in the old town called Gamla Stan. There are breathtaking views around and you enjoy every part of the day. Sunsets there are just the best. You can see Sodermalm and the City hall from Riddarholmen, and in the pictures I have uploaded for this review. Have a look in my other pics in google maps as well. Sometimes there are ships parked here and you can enjoy great dinners at the ships restaurant. Or just grab some drinks and sit by the lake enjoying the view.
