Showcasing paintings and sculptures from the 15th century to the present day, this museum hosts the works of Scandinavian artists such as Edvard Munch, Ernst Josephson, and Carl Larsson, and also displays pieces by Chagall, Picasso, and Monet. Created in 1923 for the city's 300th anniversary, the museum is a monument in and of itself, having been built in the neoclassical style of Nordic architecture by architect Sigrid Ericson.
