Challenging hikes with unparalleled scenic beauty, Mount Liamuiga is not for the faint hearted. A stratovolcano with an elevation of 1,156 m (3,792 ft), the highest point in St Kitts, it was formally named "Mount Misery", an indication of the hiking difficulty levels here. A diverse landscape, many trails begin at the old mango forest woodlands, then on into buzzing dense rainforests. If you make it to the top, you'll experience a mesmerising trail through Cloud Forest, then a walk to the edge of a 1 km wide (0.6 mi) volcano crater, a breath-taking chasm with spectacular views. Numerous tour guides operate here. Be sure to wear proper hiking footwear, and if possible, hiking poles. As with all strenuous hikes, bring plenty of water. This is a very challenging climb (not a hike) to the top. Figure on a heart-pounding 2 hrs up and 2 hrs down with a half hour at the top. By my Fitbit it was 23,000 steps, an equivalent of 14 km and.... more »

Highest point in the sovereign country of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Incredible summit views of the entire country and turquoise waters await. It's likely that these are some of the best views in the Caribbean.

We're fairly athletic. On the way up we stopped for 2 minutes for a quick water break. Going up 1hour32mins. On the way down we did not stop. 1hour11mins. Total 2hours43minutes. It was worth the pain.
