Observe and get to hold baby turtles at Victor Hasselblad Sea Turtle Research & Conservation Center, a prime turtle nesting site. Victor Hasselblad, the world-famous manufacturer of digital and film cameras, founded the first turtle hatchery on the island in 1978. During the years, the center has released nearly four million turtle hatchlings into the sea. It has also gradually put an end to illegal fishing, saving the coral reefs from further devastation. The center operates with the help from the locals, who collect the eggs at night. • Great place. Very educational and we were able to release the turtles at sunset. Everyone here was very friendly and they genuinely seemed to care about the turtles.  more »
