Probably of the world's oldest fig trees, Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi was allegedly planted in 249 BCE. Revered by Buddhist pilgrims from around the globe, the tree remains one of the most sacred relics in Sri Lanka--worshipers believe Buddha sat under this very fig when he attained Enlightenment.
