Visit the abandoned village that was the site of one of the bloodiest battles of the Spanish Civil War. Belchite looks much the same as it did on September 7th, 1937, when the two-week battle ended. It serves as a poignant reminder of the destruction wrought by the conflict. The village can only be explored via a guided tour. Listen to your guide explain more about the civil war and this particular battle. Take in the ruined homes, church, and clock tower. Don't stray too far from your guide, as there is a risk of falling masonry. Using our custom trip planner, Zaragoza attractions like Belchite can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

Compulsory visit if you are walking in Zaragoza or the area. More than old belchite, what shudders are the stories that the guide tells and that today, there are families in new belchite who keep looking at each other. Passionate visit, I recommend it without hesitation. If you go in the morning, stay for a belchite that the menu is great!
