Torres de Serranos, Valencia

4.4
Historic Site · Tourist Spot
Torres de Serranos, constructed during the late 14th century and one of the best preserved monuments of the city, once formed part of the city wall. You can easily imagine medieval royalty entering between these towers with pomp and circumstance. Later, over three centuries, the towers served as a prison for noblemen and knights. As long as your legs will carry you up the steps, you can catch great views from the top, looking down on soccer fields and the Turia riverbed. • One of the city gates from the Ancient City wall, dating back to 1392. For a few euros you can climb the tower and get a beautiful view of the city.  more »
  • its a very beautiful building, at the edge of the city centre, not far for walking, next to the river.  more »

  • The gateway stands in a large cleared area so you can appreciate the size and grandeur of it. I think it cost €2 to climb to the top - the stairs are wide and straight so no worries about spiral staircases. The views from the top are impressive and the whole building is a tribute to the restoration work. It is just 5 minutes walk from the cathedral and well worth a visit.
  • A cool tower/gate to visit. Its a beautiful place. You can go up and see the view, not really worth paying though, there wasn't anyone checking at the entrance... Hint... Hint...
