Torres de Serranos, Valencia

4.4
Torres de Serranos, constructed during the late 14th century and one of the best preserved monuments of the city, once formed part of the city wall. You can easily imagine medieval royalty entering between these towers with pomp and circumstance. Later, over three centuries, the towers served as a prison for noblemen and knights. As long as your legs will carry you up the steps, you can catch great views from the top, looking down on soccer fields and the Turia riverbed. • Went to the top of the towers, very easy to access and well worth it for the views. 2 euros good value.  more »
  • The towers are a remnant of the city's defense system. Massive, with no very particular architectural interest. At the top: beautiful view of Valencia. Crossing the boulevard in front of the towers, we arrive on the gardens of Turia.

  • The gateway stands in a large cleared area so you can appreciate the size and grandeur of it. I think it cost €2 to climb to the top - the stairs are wide and straight so no worries about spiral staircases. The views from the top are impressive and the whole building is a tribute to the restoration work. It is just 5 minutes walk from the cathedral and well worth a visit.
  • A cool tower/gate to visit. Its a beautiful place. You can go up and see the view, not really worth paying though, there wasn't anyone checking at the entrance... Hint... Hint...
