#1 of 822 in Nature in Spain
Explore the volcanic landscapes of Timanfaya Nationalpark, a mountainous area that has been frozen in time since the greatest recorded eruptions took place nearly 300 years ago. This national park forms the core area of a protected biosphere reserve. Access to the park is strictly regulated to guard its delicate wildlife, with only a few footpaths and a short rustic route you can explore by camel. The admission fee includes a bus tour around the interior of the park, with a narrated history of the area in several languages. Located just outside the northern limits of the park is an informative visitor center, with permanent displays and audio-visual presentations explaining the origins of the island and the volcanic activity that formed the park’s unusual scenery. Put Timanfaya Nationalpark and other Tinajo attractions into our Tinajo online trip planner , and watch your holiday take shape.

  • The landscapes of the park are superb, it is a must visit but when the keepers, it remains to be desired. Amateur photo, I went back to the park at daybreak to try to make some nice pictures. I parked in a parking lot provided for this purpose and when I got out of the car a very aggressive security guard simply forbade me to take pictures and bark at me. This is the first time I have been prohibited from taking pictures of a place. So I remain divided in the beauty of the place and the aggressiveness of this agent who really disappointed me and left a bitter taste. A bit like the printing of the money pump way ''forbidden to take pictures to force you to buy postcards''

  • This is a must if you go to Lanzarote. It's scary to realise how close you are in some places to the heat of earth's core  more »

  • Amazing scenery. Beautiful piece of nature. Highly recommend a visit when in town. The queue for private cars can take up to nearly 2 hours waiting to enter in the peak of the summer. But if you get a taxi from town you don't have to queue - worth the taxi fare
  • A must do visit. Awesome place. The restaurant had good prices also. You buy tickets at the little hut at the bottom.. we went at 3.30 and got straight on a coach. The coach drive had some jaw dropping moments. I couldn't drive a car around those roads let alone a coach.
