Catedral de Teruel, Teruel

#2 of 8 in Historic Sites in Teruel
World heritage site · Architectural Building · Church
Experience the architecture and decor of a 12th-century cathedral at Catedral de Teruel. See one of the oldest and best-preserved Mudejar bell towers in Spain, built in three sections, decorated in ceramic tile, and topped with an octagonal lantern from the 17th century. One of the most notable features of the cathedral is the ceiling, called the Sistine Chapel of Mudejar art. Built in the 13th century, the wooden ceiling is ornately decorated with hunting scenes, religious themes, vegetation, geometric designs, and Moorish inscriptions. In 1986, UNESCO declared the tower, wooden ceiling, and dome of the cathedral the joint Mudejar monuments of the city.
