  • The House of the Chains, or of the Marquises of Moya, was located next to the old door of San Juan, demolished in the NINETEENTH century. It Forms a small fortress within the city, surrounded by its own wall, defended by circular plant towers. From them is complete the one that gives towards the church of San Sebastián, and only in part another, reconverted into dwelling, to the right of the facade. Although It is assumed heir of a building plenomedieval, of the XIII, the basic configuration of the current data of the years surrounding 1500, when it passed to the hands of Don Andrés Cabrera, mayor of the Alcazar married with Doña Beatriz de Bobadilla, childhood companion of Isabel the Catholic, which granted them the Marquesado of Moya in 1480. The palace of the Cabrera maintained its military aspect – the tower on the right would have been lifted by them – but it already takes the form of a palace, as its great façade, dominated by an enormous cover, formed by an arch of large granite voussoirs crowned by the Guns of the Marquises. The House is organized around a central courtyard, porticoed on three sides and with a cornice decorated with balls, typical Tardogótico style prevailing during the reign of the Catholic Monarchs.
