#1 of 6 in Nature in San Sebastian - Donostia
Appreciate panoramic views of San Sebastián and La Concha beach from the top of Monte Urgull. Originally used as a military lookout, the mountain now serves as an urban park and features several historic structures, museums, and scenic vantage points. Tour the 12th-century castle that sits atop the mountain at almost 250 m (800 ft) above the city. Climb the castle towers for the best views of the Jesus monument overlooking the beautiful bay. Walk down to the city center through the historic port, where you can stop for a fresh seafood meal. • very beautiful view of the city and the bay of La Cumon. In summer there is a small bar where you can drink wine or cold beer (though more expensive than in other places) but you can drink and enjoy the beautiful view of the :)

  • Well worth spending a few hours walking round the old fortress, gun batteries and English cemetry. In addition to the views, it was interesting to research the history of the place. Museum in the fort...  more »

  • The Urgull hil is the best view point to contemplate and admire the centre of San Sebastian and its beaches! The hill is located in the historic centre so it is well accessible. To go up there are options more direct and fast, as well as slower and easier ones (they would be more comfortable for example for families with children and baby carriages). Besides, actually there are several viewpoints in different altitude. The views are so beautiful and impressive that after ascending the hill once, I would definitely repeat this experience next visit to San Sebastian!
  • About half an hour's walk. Quite steep but you don't need special walking shoes. I suggest taking water in the summer as even in winter we got. Missed the English cemetery unless it was just the monument we saw. Good view of old city and Concha beach. Walk up was very pleasant through wooded paths
