Casa de las Conchas is an historic building with an impressive exterior that now holds a public library. Over 300 shells dot the outside walls, here because they are the symbol of the Order of Santiago. Rodrigo Arias de Maldonado, a knight of the Order of Santiago, built this house. • The House of the Shells is very famous for its history and original exterior ornamentation with more than three hundred shells. A public library operates and you can visit the inner courtyard, which also has a unique ornamentation and meaning. It is advisable to visit it with a guide to know its history and the meaning of its ornaments.

  • Going past her is key, but inside there's not much. There is the Salamanca public library, opened in 1993, but there is also not much else to see.
