Cuevas del Drach, Porto Cristo

#1 of 161 in Parks in Majorca
Venture beneath the earth to see one of the world’s largest subterranean lakes at Cuevas del Drach. The four caves sit 25 m (82 ft) underground and stretch 2.4 km (1.5 mi). Marvel at the impressive stalactite and stalagmite formations that adorn the cave floors and ceilings. Take a guided tour through the caves, which includes a boat ride across Martel Lake and ends with a four-piece live classical concert. The paths can be quite steep and slippery, so be sure to wear good walking shoes. To visit Cuevas del Drach and other attractions in Porto Cristo, use our Porto Cristo trip builder tool .

  • The cave is very beautiful, but in my eyes it is more beautiful. This cave is very developed for tourism, which influences the naturalness of the rocks. So it is impressive with small flaws.

  • The cave is very nice and worth the visit. A long line is formed in front of the entrance and the doors open at a designated time. I suggest you go to the end of the line and wait for everyone else to enter before getting in. This way you can set your own pace inside the cavern and don't have to be squeezed with the crowd. Eventually you reach an underground "theater" where classical music will be played on small boats in front of you. After that you have the option to walk on a bridge to the exit or take a boat. Here again I suggest you wait for everyone else to go and enjoy the silence in the cave. When the crowds are gone, hop on the last boat out.
  • We really enjoyed visiting this cave.it was indeed spectacular and well worth the visit.i have seen a cave like this before in Hungary but not with a lake inside it. We arrived early for the 10am slot and it wasn't as busy as when we came out. So would advise to arrive early with the first slot. We also took the advice from the other person who left the review to try and be the last one leaving the caves etc.it was a very good advice as we managed to enjoy the game a little without many noise children, babies, adults. One thing we noticed and was a huge disappointment: the ignorance of the visitors. It states many many times to not touch the formations and to not use flash, yet so many people ignore it and do it anyway. The problem lies here that once you touch these formations they will stop growing. It takes about 11million years to create and you are ruining it with just one second, with one touch. If you go and visit the cave don't be one of these ignorant people and reserve this cave so other generations will be able to enjoy it too!
