  • Sitting in one of the most emblematic and visited squares of the Murcian capital, Santa Catalina. It was erected on the old Casa Palarea, residence of the middle of the nineteenth century onwards of the family of the same name. It must begin by saying that Ramón Gaya is, but the one who, one of the most charismatic and renowned Murcian painters of all ages, his accentuated altruism, his sense of solidarity, his great human condition led him on successive occasions to contribute with important donations to the restoration of order and infrastructure in Murcia and surrounding areas when the terrible and unwelcome floods of the mid-20th century occurred. He was not only a painter to use; taken from his various intellectual concerns visit in his teens Madrid, where he has the opportunity to meet a wide representation of the Poetic Generation of 27, and Paris. In Madrid he remains residing for a couple of years where he took advantage of, in addition to continuing to unleash his excellent pictorial vein, collaborate with the Pedagogical Missions, an institution that traveled throughout the country trying to bring culture and training to the most disadvantaged classes. Apart from his great predisposition for painting, he is also postulate as a great poet. The Ramón Gaya Museum hosts from various exhibitions of very different authors and very different styles to poetic galas and frequent displays of the culture and traditions of Murcia through popular music, poetry and canvases of the huertana theme both of the owner of the Museum as renowned Murcian painters such as Luis Garay and/or Pedro Flores. The management of the Ramón Gaya Museum is carried out by a Board of Trustees whose president in the current Councilor of Culture of the City of Murcia, D. Jesús Pacheco. Highly recommended your visit because of the great cultural and intellectual atmosphere that is breathed in it and because it is an enclave very visited by own and strangers given the great gastronomic and leisure offer that welcomes around it.
