Trip Planner: Europe / Spain / Andalucia / Province of Malaga / Costa del Sol / Malaga / Museo Carmen Thyssen Malaga
Delve into 19th-century Spanish art at Museo Carmen Thyssen Malaga. Housed in a converted 16th-century Baroque palace, the museum features a permanent collection of works, from landscapes to portraits, done by predominantly Andalusian painters. For an interesting perspective on the development and culture of southern Spain, admire well-known pieces such as Plá’s “Ladies in the Garden” or “La Buenaventura” by Romero de Torres. Stop for a coffee and pastry at the museum’s palace cafe before leaving. The input is 10o with the audioguide and when you finish, you just want to start over. The attentive staff and the unsaturated space (we visited it on Saturday at about 12 am) The renovated building is also a hit. He totally deserves to go
This gallery often has exceptional exhibitions and is a must for anyone visiting this lovely city.It is right in the old town, near the cathedral more »
Beautiful museum with a great collection. Reasonable admission costs include audio guides in many languages. Audio guides were very helpful in learning about the art and artists. Staff were extremely helpful in suggesting the flow of the galleries and information about the museum and special exhibits. Various days and times have specials on admission pricing. Lockers available free of charge. Gift shop on premises.
Interesting collections spread across three floors. Quite expensive to get in at €10 but make sure you ask for a discounted rate if you live in Málaga province. Apparently the café is also very good but we didn't have anything this time. The building also has some interesting characteristics so have a wander through all the rooms even if some of the art is not your style.
