Fundacion Cesar Manrique Reviews
A fascinating piece of architecture built into a field of volcanic lava. The documentary is worth watching -- even though it is a bit long and lacks clear progression. Rotating sculptures are marvello... more »
Originale casa museo dove l'azzurro del cielo e dell'acqua, il verde dei cactus e il bianco accecante degli ambienti si fondono come in un quadro more »Original house museum where the blue of the sky and water, the green of the cacti and the blinding white of the rooms blend as in a picture
Inspiring and beautiful home, now museum, of Cesar Manrique built in and around underground larva "bubbles'. His love for the natural world and ability to envision amazing building design, using, but not exploiting the incredible volcanic landscape of his island shines through. Definitely worth a visit. And there's an interesting collection of his work as well as by Picasso, Joan Miro and others.
Amazing place. Great perspective into the life of a local artist with an international projection. The architecture, the landscape, the plants, complement his work and vice versa. There is an audio guide that can be downloaded for free from Android or OS store. It allows to know more about César Manrique, even though most people just seemed to prefer to ignore it and go through this fabulous place at what seemed close to the speed of light. In a way it meant the space was mostly empty which was great.
