  • It is an interesting cathedral to visit, especially if you leave with local guide. The most curious thing is the chicken coop near the entrance to the crypt: a rooster and a hen are always there commemorating the legend of the village and the miracle of Santo Domingo. On the crypt are the remains of the saint, and it is also very curious to know that the rosary is prayed around. There is a cathedral museum whose most striking sleath is a depiction of miracles and the bible with LEGO dolls.

  • For one thing, it's not a cathedral, but a concathedral, something they don't say anywhere. Entrance by the cloister on the west facade at prices more expensive than the cathedral of Burgos (individual with audioguide at 8 euros, 7 in Burgos. Pilgrims pay the same on any guided tour. Children have "free access"... two euros and in the evening that do not appear). The turn guide thinks that we are all Catholic, Apostolic and Calccarense, the Gentile of the Locals and the Jubilee Year. Cansa). The best artistically is outside, in the beautiful south-entry portico in what is the way of Santiago and in the altarpiece. Exterior tower under construction: not visited. Interior with rooster and hen that disappear in the middle of the afternoon. They're in a Jubilee Year that's embarrassing. They do not open the Door of Forgiveness but at a certain late hour and with suggestion that it should not pass if you do not go to the later Mass. As you get a little extended, they close the doors and you don't come out; I mean, they kidnap you. Recently it was the Jubilee Year Lebaniego: Gate of Forgiveness always open, except nights, visit to the temple and the free Lignum Crucis, friendly and ecumenical explanations. Ruled by Franciscans these do not make box as blatantly as in this concathedral and its Lebanese monastery is open to the believing public or not. Comparisons are odious... for Santo Domingo de la Calzada. Curiosity. They give something: the prayer of the Jubilee Year with a montage of the scary saint calccarense.
