Trip Planner: Europe / Spain / Andalucia / Costa de la Luz / Jerez De La Frontera / Alcazar Jerez de la Frontera
First constructed in the 11th century by Andalusia’s Moorish rulers, Alcazar Jerez de la Frontera is an imposing and elegant monument to the history of southern Spain. The fortress has massive fortified towers and 4,000 m (13,123 ft) of walls designed to protect its inhabitants from attack. Climb to the tops of these lookouts for sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. Wander the lush gardens inside the keep, complete with intricate fountains and flowering plants, and explore the former bathhouse complex. Discover Jerez’s only remaining mosque structure, which was converted into a church after the European conquest of the city, and enriches the castle’s varied architectural heritage. They are especially interesting the old mosque -only preserved of the 18 that came to have Jerez-, the Arab bath, the oil mill and the octagonal tower. explanatory posters are deteriorated and should be changed. The dark camera is still closed and the old pharmacy is beautiful. I would also highlight the model of the Alcazar complete and surrounding Jerez that allows to get an idea of what it was like in ancient times. Proper entrance, 5o, there is bathroom layout and I recommend parking in the parkin mall, right in the nearby park, since streets are blue area. In addition, on both sides of the alcazar you will find the cellars tio Pepe and the cathedral, as well with the same parking spot you can complete the visit

The best was the dark camera and the excellent explanation of Maria, we were pleasantly surprised as with a system of mirrors we could see Jerez in 360 degrees Congratulations
Interesting Alcazar that had been well preserved and renovated. Obviously not on the same scale as the offerings in Granada and Seville but at only €5 entry it's well worth a visit. In a town short on visitor attractions you will have time if you spend a day or two here.
A great little Alcazar. It was almost empty when we went there. Possibly due to no 'entrance' sign. I'm sure they would attract more passing by tourists if they had a clear entrance sign. Otherwise it was excellent. The map was very helpful and the descriptions in English were some of the best on our trip. Highly recommended.
