On top of a 38 m (125 ft) hill stands the . The castle was originally built in 956 CE, although most of what stands today was built by the Almoravides in the 12th century. Walk around the ruins and imagine what life would have been like here over the centuries. Climb the towers and be granted superb views of the sea and surrounding countryside. Visit the small museum to learn more about the history of the castle. There is a steep walk up to the site.   • Took a walk here, magical view in all directions! Only the ruin remains, so there is nothing else to see. But it's free and I like that it's open to the public. Recommended!

  • We didn't really expect to find this well-preserved castle. We got a pleasant surprise. You can take a leisurely stroll. The view is phenomenal with the river very close.

  • Only appears to be open on Sundays due to the shows and events being held in and around it. A lot of work has been done in the last few years to conserve and restore, and it is possible to walk around the battlements and cannon battery. A bit of a climb but well worth the effort
