Faro de Fisterra, Fisterra

#1 of 10 in Things to do in Fisterra
Must see · Lighthouse · Tourist Spot
Take the time to walk out to Faro de Fisterra, a lighthouse on a famous cape. As the nearest lighthouse to the Americas, the farthest west in Europe, it was appreciated by sailors as their last glimpse of home before many long days at sea. However, its bright beam served a much greater purpose: Its light reaches 65 km (40 mi) away, warning ships about this rocky coastline, known as the Coast of Death because of the many shipwrecks. Take a look at the collection of paintings inside. Take a look at our Fisterra road trip site to schedule your visit to Faro de Fisterra and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • A light house on a point of land, like most lighthouses. There is nothing special about this particular one, I guess it's claim to fame is that it is the end of the camino de campostela  more »
  • The semaforo is the milestone zero of the Saint-James Camino. Lovely experience and lovely times to visit the milestone Zero.  more »
