The ruins of a fortified Islamic medieval palace-city built in the 900s, much of Medina Azahara - Conjunto Arqueológico Madinat al-Zahra has been excavated and restored, including aristocratic residences, public baths, a court complex, and a mosque. Begin with a visit to the museum to learn more about this ancient site with exhibits and an audio-visual presentation. Then head to the museum’s viewing platform for your first glimpse of the site. It's a lovely historic place. If you come by car you have to park in a free parking few kilometers away from the site and take a bus that brings you there and returns you. The ticket for the bus is 2.5 Euro. There is no other cost to visit the site itself. Remember that the last bus will come back at 2:30 pm when they close the site. The site will reopen at 8pm until 11pm. Assign one to two hours to visit this place.
