  • I attended the sunday mass with a dear friend and the service was very nice. I kept praying and observing the beautiful imagery of Santo Domingo and other saints.  more »

  • . Built in the 17th Century (1639) in fact, with money provided by a local sea-going merchant, this is fairly austere outside; well, plain rather than austere, as it is painted in white and mustard-yellow, as are very many buildings, churches or not, in Southern Spain. But inside it has a highly baroque altarpiece devoted to Nuestra Senora del Rosario, the patron saint of the city of Cadiz, and its worth going inside to see this. The Dominican monks had their headquarters here; handily sited near the sea, this "convento" (used in Spanish for male as well as for female religious houses) was where the monks stayed on their voyages to and from Latin America. Outside, on the land side, you will see the statue of "La Perla de Cadiz", a famous local flamenco singer. .
