Catedral de Cadiz, Cadiz

It took five architects 116 years to finish Catedral de Cadiz, and the results are impressive. Starting in the Baroque style, picking up Rococo elements, and finally finishing as a Neoclassical structure, the cathedral features paintings and relics from other cathedrals and monasteries around Spain. Take a tour using one of the provided audio guides, and climb one of the towers of the cathedral for views of the city and the bay. Composer Manuel de Falla and poet and playwright José María Peman rest in the crypt. • Beautiful cathedral with a very special energy. Besides what it imposes on the outside, if you come in you fall more in love with her. Please note that to enter you have to pay the entrance but it includes an audio guide and climb to the bell tower. In front of the Cathedral you have a square with different bars in which to eat or have a drink in a very relaxed atmosphere, several shops to buy souvenirs and some hotels. In addition, very close to the Cathedral, you will find the Neighborhood La Viña that deserves a visit and have a drink on one of the many terraces that you can find in its central pedestrian street.

  • Truly magnificent structure, the only church in Spain decorated with white marble. The structure reserved for the choir all in laid in laid. Also to visit the crypt under the altar

  • Beautiful cathedral in the heart of old town. The entrance fee is worth the visit, you get to see the beautiful cathedral inside, go to the top of the tower (best part), and the entrance to a museum nearby (we didn’t have time to go). The view from the top of the tower is unbeatable and absolutely stunning. It’s not too hard to get to the top, there are no steps until you get to the end, it is just a ramp that goes up. Not sure on their wheelchair or stroller policy but you can make it almost to the top without steps.
  • Worship place. Impressive with excellent collection of antiquities. The crypt below is fascinating with lots of tombs. The entry fee (senior/pensioner discount available) to the Cathedral also includes a visit to Torre Poniente where the visitor come close to the huge bells of the Cathedral. The tower also gives an excellent view of Cadiz skyline.
