National Park · Hidden Gem · Wildlife Area
Stroll through Parque Natural S'Albufera de Mallorca, the largest wetland area in the Balearics, and you're sure to get a look at some of the 271 species of birds that call the preserve home--purple swamp-hen, black-winged stilt, and teal, to name a few. You'll also see myriad fish, reptiles, the rare Barbastelle bat, and the Psyathyrella halofila, a toadstool unique to S’Albufera. The site boasts the highest biodiversity in the Balearics due to the unique confluence of abundant rain, rich sediment, and proximity to the sea, which creates a fertile floodplain environment. Stop by the information center to learn about the wildlife and paths for walking and biking--lengths range from 15 minutes to around 3 hours. Don't forget water as the expansive park can get warm. The birding huts can also be a good place to find shade. • We walked through a small area of the nature park. Its very pretty and on high areas some lovely views and photo opportunities.  more »
  • It is a nice area to go to, but unfortunately we did not see much of the birds, when we walked through it. Maybe it's better go by bike.  more »
