Museo de la Evolucion Humana
Museo de la Evolucion Humana focuses on human evolution in an apropos location, some 16 km (10 mi) from the Sierra de Atapuerca human fossil finds. The museum and grounds were designed by the architect Juan Navarro Baldeweg, and will be of interest in themselves. But inside you’ll find a recreation of the Sierra de Atapuerca mountain range, ultra-realistic reproductions of human ancestors, and the answers to your questions about the differences (or lack thereof) between us and our hunter-gatherer predecessors. You can even visit the sites of the fossil finds on a shuttle that leaves from the museum. Museo de la Evolucion Humana is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , online itinerary creator Edition.

Museo de la Evolucion Humana reviews

The museum did a phenomenal job of explaining evolution and the history of the discoveries at Atapuerca, as well as around the world. We started with the audio guides but found we didn’t need them... more »

A very well done display to inform and educate about the Atapuerca discoveries and its place in the understanding of human evolution. more »

The place turns more interesting as you go farther in. One of its greatest accomplishments in my opinion is how a very scientific subject that could be unfriendly for the general public is made so interesting and engaging. There’s a nice balance between the extremely minimal architecture the gorgeous lighting and the displays, making it easier to go through all the information without feeling overwhelmed by it. They have many interactive displays that allow you to have a full learning experience. Nevertheless, it is necessary to take the time to read and interact with said displays to be able to understand and enjoy the experience, it takes a long time to do the full circuit and though you most likely won’t be bored, you might get tired luckily, they have places for you to sit and rest a library with vending machines and you can even go outside and return later that same day with the same ticket (at least that was my experience). They also have temporary exhibitions.
