Arco de Santa Maria, Burgos

4.6
Once an integral section of the massive defensive wall surrounding ancient Burgos, Arco de Santa Maria today serves as a reminder of the city’s grand heritage. The gate’s castle-like appearance was crafted in 1553 as a grandiose entrance to the town center. Admire its medieval-style towers, which form a crown around its roof, as well as the many inset sculptures of famous historical Castilians. Explore the inside of the building to view a large mural painted on the interior, along with occasional small art or historical exhibits. • The arch of Santa Maria is the gateway to Burgos is a masterpiece in stone, it is worth taking the time to appreciate every detail

  • It is a beautiful and well decorated arch to pass from the Arlanzon river towards the cathedral area. In addition, you can visit inside for free. It has a pharmacy museum (small and unexplained), and temporary exhibitions (now a curious of bots). You can also look a little at a tower. Recommended!
