Trip Planner: Europe / Spain / Andalucia / Province of Malaga / Costa del Sol / Benalmadena / Parque De La Paloma
Saunter through over 20 hectares (50 acres) of lush gardens at Parque De La Paloma. Located only 200 m (656 ft) from the main coastal highway, the park offers several children’s play areas, a large lake, and many pathways that wind through the beautifully landscaped area. Feed the dozens of geese, ducks, and peacocks that inhabit the park, or bring a picnic to eat while basking in the sun. On Wednesdays, the fruit and vegetable markets are open. I go to Benalmàdena twice a year, and visit the park at least 3 or 4 times during each fortnightly holiday. You can stroll around the park's pathways, have a coffee, snack or icecream, in a café... more »
This is a beautiful park that was particularly charming because of the flocks of chickens that live there. The cockerels strut around, guarding their harems, while the hens and chicks peck around the flower beds and bushes. We followed them up to the impressive cactus gardens. There are donkeys, misleadingly labelled as 'mouflon' (horned mountain sheep) but fooling nobody, and a random statue of a zebra. There is a display of sculptured disembodied heads that lie on grassy areas. The park has interesting gates with cafes and toilets nearby. It seems well equipped with play facilities. There is a library with an attractive lake and small waterfall next to it.
Nice park for a wander through with lots of interesting birds and plants. Great play area for kid's at the top as well as cafes and toilets. Interesting Cactus area too. Plenty of shade for those hot days.
