Diese Burg dominiert das Stadtbild von Alburquerque. Schon von weitem sehr gut sichtbar und in einem sehr guten Zustand. Eine der schönsten Burgen in dieser gut befestigten Gegend. more »This castle dominates the cityscape of Alburquerque. Already very visible from a distance and in very good condition. One of the most beautiful castles in this well-fortified area.
To look and hear the story from the perspective of the Castelhanos and especially to speak of the Tugas is a must. Great class on military defensive strategy from the architecture of the building to the Dom Alfonso de la Luna. We love the guided tour with about 1 hours, well explained. The guide was very competent and expressed itself very well, in an easy way. This castle was Portuguese for two periods, the first by Alfonso Sanches son of D. Dinis and later for about 11 years already in the eighteenth century. Visit that you will love...
The visit is recommended, especially if you go to the Medieval Festival that is usually held around August 16. They make some very interesting theatrical visits and you can see the castle as it was then for only two euros. They also make a play that, although it is difficult to get tickets because they sell out right away and can only be purchased at the tourist office, it is an unrivalled framework.
