Resembling a giant spaceship docked in a field of fake white roses, Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) hosts fashion design shops, a multipurpose convention hall, a history museum, and eateries. A combination of classy shopping mall and suave conference center set in the middle of Dongdaemun fashion district, this modern landmark of Seoul gets an extra accent from thousands of glowing LED lights along its sloping curves. You can also explore some 2,575 artifacts in the restored parts of a fortress excavated during construction works. The plaza is well-connected, with a subway station just underneath. A visit to Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Seoul day trip planning website to plot your vacation.

  • DDP is Zaha Hadid design and definitely the icon of Dongdaemun. There are a couple of subway stations that stop directly underneath or nearby, hence easy to get to. The Plaza overall is quite large...  more »

  • Perfect place for design lovers. Amazing and huge minimalistic building. Easy to visit via metro which is under Design Plaza. Also great location for photographers... Just across the road are some shopping malls working all night. Inside Design plaza you can also find some cool stores.
  • This place is considered to be a shopping center of the Seoul! Once at the place you will find yourself submerged in the busyness of the area (similar to Times Square but much more cleaner and more developed). This is the heaven for those who like to shop. Those who like to explore and enjoy the culture, I highly recommend going there at night to avoid busy traffic. At night, the main subway with a gigantic chrome dome-like structure on top (impossible to miss) will light up and if you hike around, you will find a field covered with white LED roses! My advice, go there hungry because there are lot of traditional street foods sold around.
