Rising from the ocean like a rocky crown, the World Heritage Site of Seongsan Ilchulbong stands as a testament to the region's ancient volcanic activity. Formed nearly 5,000 years ago by an eruption, the formation, known as a "tuff cone," features sheer walls with a depressed center. Hike your way up to the top of the raised crater, which stands 180 m (591 ft) high and has a diameter of nearly 600 m (1,969 ft), and look out over the rugged interior. You'll also get to enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding ocean and coastline from the rim. Seongsan Ilchulbong Reviews
Vi hade en timme på oss och hann mycket väl både klättra upp för de cirka 500 trappstegen i sten, med räcke, och ner de ca 400 i trä, njuta av utsikten och besöka den lilla viken nedanför med de dykan... more »We had an hour on us and managed very well both climb up for the approximately 500 steps in stone, with railing, and down the about 400 in wood, enjoy the view and visit the little bay below with the diving (older) women who oxå sold seafood
5000 wons l’entrée . Petite balade agréable bien aménagée . Compter 30 min pour la montée . Pas loin du parking pléthore de restaurants . more »5000 won the entrance . Small pleasant walk well laid out. Allow 30 minutes for the climb. Not far from the plethora of restaurant parking.
It’s a very uphill hike, but you will be rewarded with the amazing views at the top. The path is well maintained and not exposed anywhere. Get some water on a hot day. It takes around 20 minutes to get to the top and some more to walk through the village.
The atmosphere here is tranquil, with a very picturesque view of the east coast of Jeju Island on the peak. Easily accessible by public transport, it's always crowded with locals and tourists alike who wanted to catch a rare glimpse of this unique landscape. The trek towards the top of the hill wasn't that tiring for us during the last time we went there, so I do believe it's very much suitable for anyone who wants to make it to the top of the hill. Frankly speaking, I would definitely encourage you to visit this special site as the sense of achievement and the panoramic view from atop would really intrigue you to conquer the heights and trust me, you wouldn't regret it!
