Trip Planner: Africa / South Africa / Western Cape / Overberg District / Overstrand / Stanford / Panthera Africa - Big Cat Sanctuary
Providing a safe haven for endangered animals, Panthera Africa - Big Cat Sanctuary offers guided walks designed to provide insight into the world of white and brown lions, caracals, tigers, and black leopards. The sanctuary does not run a breeding program, rather concentrating on offering a protected environment for rescued animals and teaching visitors about threats big cats continue to face on a daily basis. If you like tourism with a meaning, consider joining the sanctuary's volunteer program, during which you'll have a chance to care for Africa's majestic cats. Un parc qui recueille des félins maltraités et qui leur donne une belle vie enfin. Très émouvant d'écouter leurs histoires. more »A park that collects abused felines and gives them a good life at last. Very moving to listen to their stories.
Inspiring to see how this sanctuary is nursing badly treated Big African Cats and spreads awareness of all the fowl business that’s going on in South Africa. This sanctuary is ten times better than a zoo, the animals are in an exquisite health and shine like they supposed to. They let visitors in to get some money to support the project, but money does not lead their love to support these cats. Special shout out to Sydney as she is a very good storyteller and lets her passion run wild through all her stories about the cats. 5/5
Wow! What an experience! I was lucky to score a walk in admission as most tours require pre booking. I was greeted by friendly Sydney who had a smile on the whole time and was also my tour guide. Seeing how she was able to talk to animals and call some of them over put a big smile on my face. It was also sad to hear some of the animals’ stories but in the end they found a happy home. Everyone here works around the clock to give these animals a better home. I feel much more educated about the animal cruelty that goes on. Please visit this and learn before visiting another petting zoo ever again!
