Enjoy panoramic views of the bay at The Donkin Reserve, a small open public space with a memorial to the wife of the Cape Colony governor. Erected in 1820, the 10 m (32 ft) high stone pyramid commemorates Elizabeth Donkin, spouse of British general Rufane Donkin. Perched on a hill overlooking the water, the reserve provides a scenic spot to relax, as well as a tourist center in an 1861 lighthouse. Stroll the palm-lined walkways, and see a metal composition and plaque commemorating the arrival of the first Indian community to the Cape Colony. This is a great outing within Port Elizabeth. It has a load of historical significance both recent in the form of murals that have been added to the area and not so recent in the form of the Donkin itself. The biodiversity garden is also someting to look at if you enjoy nature.

A pretty little park in the city center. Nice views, especially from the top of the light house. You need to pay R10 at the information to access the light house. Unfortunately the park seems to be deteriorating, There are chunks missing from the beautiful mosaic for instance. The toilets cost R2, which is annoying, if you go with a group, because most of the time, nobody has small change.
