Nature / Park · Wildlife Area
See recovering penguins at African Penguin & Seabird Sanctuary, dedicated to the rehabilitation of marine birds. Set up to assist the endangered African penguin colonies of Dyer Island, the sanctuary has a rehabilitation area and a bird hospital. An auditorium with a large screen hosts lectures and awareness programs video-linked to the animal clinic, so visitors can follow the work of vets and marine biologists. Observe the penguins through the one-way glass in the conditioning pen, where they prepare for release into the wild. Stop in the shop selling penguin memorabilia, and break in the cafe for coffee and cakes. • We visited the sanctuary early on and were really enjoying the knowledge shared about the penguins. The shop was very clean and their service is spot on!  more »
  • They do good work. Never realised that this penguin is now endangered species due to lack of food due to over fishing. Excellent cakes. Feeding time is at 15h00.  more »
