Lying on the northern side of Table Mountain, Rhodes Memorial stands as a reminder to the life and work of Cecil John Rhodes. A businessman and former prime minister of the Cape Colony (1890-1896), Rhodes owned the land on which the memorial sits. Take a stroll down 49 granite-lined steps, one for each year of his life, to reach a rostrum overlooking the city, said to have been Rhodes' own favorite spot to sit and contemplate. An onsite restaurant provides a perfect place to grab a bite and enjoy the view. Make Rhodes Memorial a part of your Cape Town vacation plans using our Cape Town trip itinerary planner.

  • Amazing restaurant up on the top. For hiking, running trails. For a good morning walk, then you head to the restaurant for breakfast. They offer breakfast and lunch. Prices vary on average R80- R120. Banting diets, vegan, not halaal. They offer desserts, sandwiches, nice portions and wide selection of teas and coffees. What a wonderful view.
  • It is a beautiful spot, especially on clear days. Burger was salty, but staff was good. Drinks are small, for example, milkshakes and smoothies come in very narrow glasses. The food was generally okay, and nicely presented.
