  • The Iziko South African Museum and Planetarium is located right in the centre of Cape Town on the Company Garden and is located across the street from the National Gallery. It is the oldest museum on the Cape that has existed since 1825. The entrance fee is very inexpensive at 30 rand (1.80 EUR). However, there is a lot on offer for the low entrance fee. Visitors can expect numerous comprehensive exhibits from the native African animal and plant world. Here we were particularly impressed by the Waal skeletons as well as the skeletons of several dinosaurs. We hadn't seen anything like it to date. We prefer to admire the numerous stuffed native animals alive with a safari ... However, these plaudits were exhibited in a very detailed and vivid way. Another highlight of the exhibition was the exhibited historical rock carvings. The museum also includes a planetarium in which films are shown about space, but unfortunately this had closed at the time of our visit. For the visit to the museum, you should allow 1-2 hours. All in all, the South African Museum is very worth seeing and especially suitable for children.

  • Was lovely seeing all the history :) went while it was being refurbished... but still beautiful and very interesting. Take your time to read the history stories.
  • Nice museum. Lot of natural species and and and history present. Best for small children. Some astrological and minerals are present. A must visit place. For adults it is general place not very much to enjoy.
