NUS Baba House reviews
Extremely detailed look at the rich history of this community, which even locals may not know. The host, Donald, was engaging, and eager to answer questions we had, even though some of these led us... more »

Beautifully preserved historical house. Educational exhibitions on how it was preserved. Dedicated staff who conduct small group tours. Important place to learn more about this unique culture.
A pre-war traditional terraced house which is now a private museum. Listed in guide books as a must-see, unless you can get on one of the guided tours (only at the weekend and only 14 people) I wouldn't bother. It's a long walk from anything else interesting and you will get told off for taking photos when you get there.

Message from Singapore Tourism Board
This Peranakan-style house is a testament to Singapore’s architectural heritage, with its ornate exterior and interior still intact. The bright blue National University of Singapore (NUS) Baba House was once the ancestral home of shipping tycoon Wee Bin and introduces visitors to Peranakan culture from the early 20th century to the present. Most of the original interior of this Peranakan-style house is intact and the ornate exterior is a testament to Singapore’s architectural heritage. More than 2,000 Peranakan antiques, such as porcelain ware, furniture, art and embroidery, are on display on the first two floors. These include artefacts found inside the NUS Baba House when parts of it were excavated.
