Merlion Park, Singapore

4.2
#11 of 1,097 in Things to do in Singapore
Witness one world's most bizarre statues at Merlion Park, famed for its figure of a half lion, half fish shooting water from its mouth in a proud arc. Built in 1964, the 9 m (30 ft) statue now represents one of Singapore's symbols. A smaller statue--the fish-lion's baby--can also be found nearby. The baby statue offers a similar photo opportunity with a fraction of the crowds. After you've taken some photos, turn your gaze around to appreciate sweeping views of the waterfront. • Had to see it as it is the mascot of Singapore, but was a quick take a picture and look around type thing. Just a statue near the water, so kids will get antsy to hang around. I went super early and i...  more »

  • An iconic symbol of Singapore! The Merlion is a must-see tourist attraction if you happen to be in Singapore. Just beware that it can be very crowded at times so be sure to go early for good pictures!
  • It’s kind of strange, but it’s an internationally known icon for the city-state that beat the odds. Quite the tourist attraction. I recommend going at night to see the light show across the bay - stunning!
  • The icon of Singapore. A mermaid with lion head. The place always busy during the day. You can also see Marina Bay Sands from this location. You can access nearby location such as Esplanade, Fullerton Hotel, etc within walking distance.
  • This is iconic. If you come to Singapore then this is the must visit place. Merlion, a statue of Lion and Mermaid represent this country. Also, get a spectacular view of Marina Bay Sands and Singapore flyer. It is always crowded, but if you miss this place then you will regret later.
