Experience Fort Canning Park, one of Singapore's most popular landmarks and green spaces. Excavations of this park have revealed that it may have been the center of trade as far back as the 1400s. Malay kings ruled from the top of this hill, and it remained a centerpiece of the island during its 19th-century transformation into a major trade hub, plus it was a military base during World War II. Today visitors can view old relics of the island's past, set up a picnic, or attend a concert or special event. Make Fort Canning Park a centerpiece of your Singapore vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Singapore driving holiday website.

This is a great place for a walk in the park with your loved one. Lots of big trees, old stone Fort walls and cannons, with nice landscaped hilled parkland. We stayed at the hotel here and after a... more »
If you're a student of history, you'll enjoy this place. As with most hills, throughout human existence we've sensed the strategic value of the high position when it comes to conflict and war. Fort Cannon Park is no different. Great park to walk through, there's a trail with historical markers, and you'll leave there smarter than when you arrived. Bonus!
A beautiful oasis located around the center of Singapore. Even though it may be smaller than most other parks, it holds much of Singapore's heritage. Additionally, many performances do happen at this park over the course of the year. Very nice location for a morning walk or for photography.

Message from Singapore Tourism Board
Situated in the central area of Singapore, Fort Canning Park is a landmark that showcases flora and fauna, as well as historical artefacts. Set on a hilltop, Fort Canning Park is a respite from the surrounding urban landscape. The iconic 18ha park is steeped in history: Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of modern Singapore, built a bungalow on Fort Canning Hill, and it became the home of subsequent colonial governors. Fort Canning Hill was a major communication centre, and key historic events took place here. Fort Gate, the remnant of a 19th-century fortress, can also be found in the park.
