Cloud Forest, Singapore

4.7
#5 of 107 in Parks in Singapore
Transport yourself to a faraway mountaintop at Cloud Forest, filled with diverse vegetation. The cool mist descending over the undulating jungle convinces visitors they're in the wilderness, when in fact they haven't left Singapore. Contained in an air-conditioned dome, this man-made forest comes with realistic scenery and offers an educational experience at its auditorium, where you can watch a short documentary about climate change. While there, check out the world's tallest indoor waterfall. Plan your Cloud Forest visit and explore what else you can see and do in Singapore using our Singapore trip itinerary builder tool .

  • I am still amazed how can they make a perfect condition so that those non tropical plants can grow healthy. The area is air conditioned, different to area outside the dome which is very hot and sunny. To reach the upper floor needs quite an effort. The queue for the lift is long in some hours. We decided to climb the stairs. It is worth it anyway to see from above.
  • One thing. IT’S HUUUUGE. You might wanna have enough time in your pocket to explore it properly. There’s waterfall inside, flowers, lush green and it’s cold. It’s great and some people might tell you not to visit it. Do not listen to them and do not miss flower dome and cloud forest. It’s spectacular and it’s amazing how they maintain all these plants and everything else that is inside. It’s beautiful and must visit. There’s a theatre named cloud forest theatre where you can watch a video aimed at environment conservation.
  • Between the two domes, this one is my favorite. It is air conditioned and has a big mountain inside it. There is a walk way that goes around the mountain and it is pretty high, not for the faint hearted. There is an elevator to get to the walk way and the queue can get a little long depending on the crowds. The place has nice little surprises more like hard to spot installations.
  • Amazingly it was cool inside on a bright sunny day that was 32 degrees outside. The plants were awesome and set in an environment that took my breath away. If you don't like heights avoid the sky walk but it is a great way to see the displays. The building is an impressive envelope to the planting great value for money.
  • This amazing feat of architecture and engineering is what stands out immediately when you walk into Gardens by the Bay. You'll immediately be able to see two large structures, one for the Cloud Forest and one for the Flower Dome. Even from the outside, this place looks amazing. This climate-controlled structure houses an extremely diverse range of plants that naturally occur in a very rare subgroup of forests (cloud forests) which you normally rarely see unless you're in a cloud forest yourself. The sheer number of different kinds of plants is surprising considering the space they have for this place. There is even an indoor waterfall as well as mist/fog machines intended to imitate the conditions of a cloud forest. There are also regular events (such as orchid exhibitions etc.) that changes from time to time so this place is definitely worth a revisit every once in awhile. All in all, the Cloud Forest is a place you absolutely CANNOT miss when you visit Singapore (Don't let the need for a ticket deter you!).
