Clock Tower, Victoria

#1 of 6 in Historic Sites in Seychelles
Historic Site · Landmark
A little monument with a big history, Clock Tower remains a beloved landmark in the heart of the city. Referred to locally as "Lorloz," the clock represents an exact replica of Little Ben on Victoria Street in London, ordered by Seychelles Governor Ernest Sweet-Escort after admiring the original in the British capital. Created by the same company as its London cousin, the clock was erected in 1903, in memory of Queen Victoria and to celebrate the Seychelles' newly acquired status as a Crown colony. Hear the clock chime on the hour every hour on one of Victoria's busiest roundabouts.
